To tell the truth, it's not that we object to what diedre believes. It's that she rarely actually states what she believes, beyond personal insults and Fox News soundbites. If she did we may have more respect for her opinions.

And as for class, her usual response to any questioning of her beliefs tends to be to insult the questioner, deride Obama for something which is spurious, then say "Respect my beliefs:rose:". That might pass for class round your neighbourhood.

It seems to me that she doesn't have a political view, more a religious one. She's not sure why she believes but she believes it with all her heart.

Frankly if someone wants to call me a fucking moron Democrat then go right ahead, but be ready to back it up with some proof that I'm a fucking moron.

And on the Race issue, I'll accept that Deidre may not be deliberately and consciously racist in what she has posted but she has certainyl been insensitive to the issue of race and has posted things which are easy to misconstrue. If she really believes that she isn't racist then perhaps a little more forethought in her choice of language may help to avoid confusion in future.

I fear you may be right that Obama won't get in because he's black. I also fear that white supremicists will be gunning for him from the day he takes office if he does manage to win (I mean literally gunning for him). Fearing or expecting that outcome doesn't make you racist.

Black people vote, with some bias to their race. as do whites, a minority. This is being "racial" not racist, and it doesn't bother me. It likely happens in Canada too, especially in our big cities.
It likely isn't the largest determinant, but it is one.

America needs to dominate? I'm afraid you're too late, China will outgrow the US. Even India is looking better than the US right now and if you think having a huge army will stop China etc, you're wrong.
China has the ability to become a super power without using weapons, they can dominate using trade. The future for the US is to make more on US soil and export, sending the troops in aint going to work on China. This is a nation that could just get all it's citizens to jump up and down to wipe America off the map.

Actually, it is highly debatable that he LOST. It is just as much debatable as the claims that the election was won by republican corruption, finding loopholes in voting laws to make sure every possible thing in favor of Bush went in his direction and so on and so forth.

Democrats cut military spending for social programmes? Well right now your nation has such high military spending that the budget deficit is growing by the day. If you want to look for historical parallels I'd suggest you look to the fall of the Soviet Union for that one. They didn't have the economic where-with-all to support the military spending they committed to. Result? Political disaster for those in charge.

If Obama is going to cut military spending then I'd say that reduces your budget deficit. If he chooses to use some of the saved tax dollars on social programmes then I'd say your inner cities probably need it more that Iraq needs more smart bombs.

I never refuted your claim that Democrats cut military spending, only that they have a policy of providing No National Defense, which is what you had claimed. There's a big difference from being the biggest spending nation on defence in the world and having no national defence at all, wouldn't you agree?

Why must the US dominate the world? What makes you better than anyone else? What gives you the right? That is the most arrogant and imperialistic thing I've read from you in a long time. America has a right to govern and protect itself. If you want world government then start participating in the UN and make it happen, but don't do it unilaterally under the shadow of a mushroom cloud. It's views like that that make non-Americans mistrustful of you and your nation, and certainly of the Republican Party.

I think when you are stating that America must dominate the world, your political situation becomes the business of everyone.

And on the dominance issue, I think it's interesting that the free trade Neo-liberal Chicago school economics espoused by Reagan and Bush Snr, and continued by Bush Jnr and Blair et al are what are leading to the downfall of the western capialtist economies.

Opening the borders to foreign imports, allowing free movement of capital, outlawing trade tariffs and restrictions, de-regulating markets, all that has allowed China and India, particularly, to get to the point where they can buy the US in a few years.

Some are loathe to admit it but given the rate that china's economy is growing, they could very well end up as a superpower, or THE superpower in less than 20 years, Just an estimate on my part.
